  Industrie Aérospatiale Roll Royce (22 juillet) Rolls-Royce has delivered the generator for the most powerful hybrid-electric propulsion system in aerospace, to a testbed in Bristol, UK. It and related power electronics will form part of the 2.5-megawatt (MW) Power Generation System 1 (PGS1) demonstrator programme, for future regional aircraft. The generator could also be used as part of a “more-electric” system for larger aircraft or within future ground or marine applications. Airbus (21 juillet) Airbus a livré le premier A350 depuis son centre d'achèvement et de livraison de gros-porteurs (C&DC) de Tianjin dans le nord de la Chine. L'appareil A350-900 a été livré à China Eastern Airlines, le plus grand exploitant d'Airbus en Asie et le deuxième au monde avec 413 appareils. Mecachrome (21 juillet) Mecachrome donne les raisons de l'acquisition de Hitim Group ; Hitim travaille pour deux divisions du groupe Safran, Safran Transmissions Systems et Safran Landing Systems, alors que Mecachrome travaille surtout avec Safran Aircraft Engines. Après le rachat d'Hitim, Mecachrome prévoit d'autres acquisitions et de déplacer son siège social de Tours à Toulouse à compter du mois de septembre 2021. Embraer (21 juillet) Embraer delivered 14 commercial aircraft and 20 business aircraft in the second quarter. The commercial aircraft comprised 7 E175 and 7 E195-E2. The business aircraft were one Phenom 100, 11 Phenom 300, and 8 Praetor 500/600. Embraer's commercial aircraft firm order backlog now comprises 141 E175, 3 E190, 5 E190-E2 and 157 E195-E2, a total of 306 aircraft. Airbus A220 (21 juillet) Russian carrier Azimuth is leasing six A220-300s from Air Lease and will be the first operator of the A220 in Russia. First delivery will take place in 2022. Air Lease has 50 A220-300s on order. Groupe Figeac Aero (21 juillet) Figeac Aero a, pour l'exercice 2020-2021, réalisé un chiffre d'affaires de 204,6 millions d'euros, contre 446,7 millions d'euros sur l'exercice 2019-2020, soit une baisse de 52,8%. Le chiffre d'affaires de Figeac Aero au deuxième semestre de l'exercice 2020-2021 est en hausse de 16,8% par rapport au premier, et le groupe anticipe un chiffre d'affaires entre 250 et 300 millions d'euros sur l'exercice 2021-2022, soit une croissance comprise entre 22,2% et 46,66%. Airbus pilot training (20 juillet) Airbus has developed a cockpit-training platform for the A320 family which is designed to support initial and recurrent training for pilots through mobile devices and cloud technology. It is planning to extend this Mobile Airbus Training experience ((MATe Suite) to the A350 and A330 in 2022. MATe is a subscription-based service. A.T.L.A.S. Aeronautik (16 juillet) The Canadian government has provided $1 million as a repayable contribution from Développment économique Quebec (DEC) to A.T.L.A.S. Aéronautik (Granby) which manufactures and assembles complex components for the aeronautics industry. It will allow the company to improve its productivity thanks to its digitalization and expansion projects. TECT Aerospace (16 juillet) The Boeing Company will acquire TECT Aerospace, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early April. It made an auction bid worth $19.84 million. TECT had originally reached an agreement with NWI Aerostructures LLC. However, Boeing provided TECT with $60 million in debtor-in-possession financing. TECT owed nearly $18.3 million to Boeing and $4.2 to Spirit AeroSystems. This led to Spirit suing TECT last summer. CAE (16 juillet) Le gouvernement du Canada fournira 190 m $ CA et le gouvernement du Québec 150 m $ CA à CAE durant les cinq prochaines années. CAE investira 1 milliard $ CA dans le projet Résilience, pour la transformation visant à développer les technologies comme les solutions numériques immersives utilisant les écosystèmes de données et l'intelligence artificielle. Bell Textron Canada (16 juillet) Bell Textron Canada will receive up to $200 million in federal funding and $75m in provincial government loans to support the Viridis project, which aims to develop and commercialize environmentally friendly aviation technology. L'Initiative de relance régionale de l'aérospatiale (16 juillet) L'Initiative de relance régionale de l'aérospatiale (IRRA) aidera les PME à atteindre les trois objectifs suivants : rendre leurs activités plus écologiques et adopter des pratiques durables sur le plan environnemental, améliorer la productivité et renforcer la commercialisation tout en favorisant l'intégration aux chaînes d'approvisionnement régionales et mondiales. Dotée d'un budget total de 250 millions de dollars sur trois ans, cette initiative sera mise en oeuvre par les agences de développement régional (ADR) du Canada. Pratt & Whitney Canada /De Havilland (15 juillet) Pratt & Whitney Canada a dévoilé son plan pour développer et intégrer sa technologie de propulsion hybride électrique à un programme de démonstrateur de vol, dans le cadre d'un investissement de 163 M$ auquel participent les gouvernements du Canada et du Québec. L'objectif est d'atteindre une réduction de 30 % de la consommation de carburant et des émissions de CO2 pour un avion régional. P&WC travaille aux côtés de De Havilland Canada à l'intégration de la technologie dans un appareil De Havilland Canada Dash 8-100. Défense US Air Force Test Center (21 juillet) The US Air Force Test Center is seeking input from industry on Visual Display Systems capable of building on the F-35 Joint Simulation Environment, including modeling for the Lockheed Martin F-22, and future aircraft. Russie (20 juillet) Sukhoi « Checkmate », nouvel avion de combat mono-réacteur furtif de 5ème génération, a été présenté le 20 juillet 2021, à Moscou, au premier jour du salon MAKS 2021. Le LTS (Light Tactical System) « Checkmate » est un chasseur monomoteur léger de 5ème génération doté de technologies innovantes telles que l'intelligence artificielle, avec une faible signature radar et une manoeuvrabilité élevée. Son rayon d'action pourrait être de près de 3 000 km, et sa vitesse maximale comprise entre Mach 1,8 et 2. Pilatus PC-21 (19 juillet) The French Air Force has ordered nine Pilatus PC-21 training aircraft to add to the 17 aircraft it purchased in 2017. The PC-21s will replace twin-engine jet trainers which were previously used for pilot training. The Direction générale de l'armement (DGA), signed an agreement with F-AIR 21 to provide the training services. Pilatus will be a subcontractor for the supply of the PC-21s and other ground-based training systems and spare parts. GE Aviation/ US Air Force (19 juillet) GE Aviation is working with the US Air Force's Rapid Sustainment Office to supply aircraft parts manufactured using 3D printing technology. MRO Airbus A220 (23 juillet) Airbus a signé un contrat de services à l'heure de vol avec Air Manas, une compagnie low-cost basée au Kirghizistan. Drones- Advanced Air Mobility MC2 Technologies (22 juillet) Le fonds Andera Partners a racheté d'un actionnaire chinois la société MC2 Technologies qui développe des technologies de pointe dans les hyperfréquences dédiées à la lutte antidrones et à la détection d'objets cachés. La société a mis au point, un scanner portable pour la sécurité et la lutte antiterroriste, ainsi qu'une technologie de destruction des drones. Surf Air Mobility (20 juillet) US-based Surf Air Mobility has placed 100 firm orders and 50 options, all subject to financing, for Cessna Grand Caravan EXs, with initial deliveries scheduled for mid-2022. Surf Air Mobility is developing a hybrid-electric version of the Grand Caravan through its acquisition of Ampaire. It and Textron Aviation will jointly sell and market the platform; Textron Aviation will “use its expertise and deep customer relationships to help accelerate adoption of the electrified Cessna Grand Caravan”. A retrofit of existing aircraft will also be available. DHL / Dronamics (19 juillet) DHL plans to deploy 4,000 middle-mile drones from Dronamics in Europe that can each carry up to 770 pounds for up to 1,500 miles, with the first one expected in October and the rest to follow through 2030. DHL is also using smaller drones in Germany, China and Tanzania to transport documents, pharmaceuticals and packages over shorter distances. Dronamics has also signed a partnership with Hellmann Logistics to develop a cross-border cargo delivery service. DHL and Dronamics will work together to establish the dedicated drone-delivery network. Spatial Northstar Ciel et Terre (22 juillet) NorthStar Ciel et Terre annonce une collaboration avec la Garde côtière canadienne (GCC) afin de développer un système d'observation de la Terre pour la surveillance des environnements côtiers et maritimes (SOTSECM). Il vise à améliorer la qualité de l'information et à communiquer des connaissances sur la pollution maritime, l'état des glaces et les écosystèmes côtiers, qui sont directement touchés par les changements climatiques. Cette initiative bénéficiera de l'expertise du Centre Eau Terre Environnement de l'Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) du Québec ainsi que d'une contribution financière de 1,5 m $ du Programme canadien pour la sûreté et la sécurité (PCSS) de Recherche et développement pour la défense Canada (RDDC). Allemagne France (21 juillet) Un nouvel accord spatial a été conclu entre l'Allemagne et la France, garantissant « le financement de la fusée Ariane 6, la coopération entre les deux pays sur les lanceurs, et aussi la préférence européenne sur les lancements de satellites ». Les deux pays ont aussi convenu de coopérer dans le domaine des micro-lanceurs, et réaffirme la préférence européenne pour les lancements de satellites. Paris et Berlin vont de plus instaurer un groupe de travail commun réunissant industriels et ministères franco-allemands sur les semi-conducteurs. Lockheed Martin (19 juillet) Lockheed Martin has officially opened its Spacecraft Test, Assembly and Resource (STAR) Center, an advanced manufacturing facility. The Center will expand manufacturing, assembly and testing capacity for NASA's Orion spacecraft programme and support future space exploration. Work will start with the Orion Artemis III spacecraft, with components already in development. Innovation SPRINT Program UK (22 juillet) The SPRINT (Space Research and Innovation Network for Technology) programme has secured £2 m from the Research England Connecting Capability Fund (CCF) over a one-year period to enhance strategic knowledge exchange driving business innovation within the space sector. Universal Hydrogen (22 juillet) Icelandair has signed a letter of intent with Universal Hydrogen to examine the potential for conversion of its Dash 8 aircraft to hydrogen-electric power. Icelandair says that its short-range domestic operations are ideal for aircraft powered by alternative fuels. Availability of electricity from renewable sources is also a key enabler for a move away from jet fuel. Aurora Flight Sciences (19 juillet) Aurora Flight Sciences is researching the use of new flight control methods for electric aircraft. Instead of using ailerons, rudders, and elevators for control surfaces, the DARPA Control of Revolutionary Aircraft with Novel Effectors (CRANE) project seeks to use actuators or effectors. ******
