The CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) Program and what it means for Canadian Defense Firms

The United States Department of Defense (DoD), concerned over the continued loss and compromise of data from its industrial base supply chain has developed a mandatory program to reduce the future risks. In the future, to conduct any business with DoD or DoD primes, a CMMC 3rd party certification will be required. The development of a 3rd party certification program, is quickly moving from infancy towards maturity. The CMMC Accreditation Board (www.CMMCAB.org) is now developing courseware and requirements for up to 10,000 assessor certifiers. Beginning in the first quarter of 2021, member firms of the United States Defense Industrial Base (DIB), including Canadian aerospace and defense firms, are going to have to prepare and achieve CMMC certifications in order to do business with the DoD, either as a prime or subcontractor (no matter which tier). While the program is initially designed to meet the direct needs of the US DIB, those companies ( including foreign enterprises) will eventually be mandated by their US primes to pursue the appropriate level of CMMC certification. There are five (5) maturity levels of certification, so it is important to work with the DoD primes on understanding what level of CMMC is expected, by what time – in order to continue to be a foreign-owned subcontractor working under a US defense prime. It is key for Canadian primesto understand, plan and pursue CMMC certifications to retain current contracts or be awardedfuture DoD opportunities. To gain some insight into the program – timely outreach to the Canadian value chain is considered essential if continuation in the DoD business environment is to be maintained. With over 19 years supporting companies with sales in the military marketplace, the joint venture with 9dot Security Solutions, will allow American Defense Group Inc. to assist Canadian firms to fulfil these new DoD requirements and continue to expand their business within the new cybersecurity stipulations. All of our personnel are retired and former U.S. military officers that includeextensive military cybersecurity operational experience. American Defense Group, Inc. (ADG), a 19 year old, Atlanta Georgia based manufacturer's representative firm, specializing in sales to DoD and the U.S. defense contractor community has teamed with 9dot Security Solutions, also an Atlanta-based defense cybersecurity firm staffed by former U.S. Army Cybersecurity officers to develop an informational presentation to create awareness for Canadian defense contractors and answer any questions in this regard. We will offer this webinar at no cost to Canadian companies, Federal and provincial officials, preferably on provincial association level in order that we can respond in depth to the anticipated questions Reference Websites: www.americandefensegroup.com www.ninedss.com S'INSCRIRE
